Spring 2025 was unforgettable for the ESI International Community — full of adventure, laughter and new friendships across Turkey! From snow-covered peaks to sunny beaches, we explored it all together.

🚌 Easy Departures from Both Sides of İstanbul

Our buses always departed from :

  • Mecidiyeköy , Şişli (European Side) : 1st Stop

  • Söğütlüçeşme , Kadıköy (Asian Side) : 2nd Stop

  • Depending on high demand, we can sometimes add a 3rd departure point because Sabancı University Tuzla Campus is far away.

    Super convenient for everyone living in different parts of the city! 💙

  • Night Departures (usually 9–10 PM from İstanbul)

  • Applications close 5 days before departure — and trips fill up fast! ⏳

  • Early bird applicants get better (cheaper) prices and extra perks 🐦

  • Payments are made via Fluuk app (ESI's New Mobile App) or hand payment, in euros or dollars (cash), checking by trusted ESI admins

  • Trip-specific WhatsApp groups share all the info:

    • ✔️ Museum Card (Müzekart) instructions 

    • ✔️ What to pack

    • ✔️ Departure points & hotel details

    • ✔️ Rooming lists (2–3 people per room)

    • ✔️ Bus seat arrangements

  • 🪪 Passport / ID Card – Required for travel, hotels, and insurance

  • 📱 Phone Charger + Power Bank – Charge on the bus (USB ports available)

  • 🎫 Museum Card (Müzekart) – Needed for sites like Ephesus, Pamukkale, and Cappadocia

  • 🎒 Small Backpack / Day Bag – For essentials during day trips

(Important for Pamukkale, Ephesus, Kuşadası, Ölüdeniz, etc.)

  • 🧴 Sunscreen – Vital for outdoor tours under direct sun

  • 🕶️ Sunglasses & 🧢 Hat / Cap – For heat and sun glare

  • 💧 Refillable Water Bottle – Hydration is key

  • 🍫 Snacks – Quick energy for long walks or early mornings

Only pack for trips that include beaches, thermal baths or boat tours:

  • 🛟 Swimming Noodle (Optional) – For non-confident swimmers

Ephesus = ancient Roman ruins + full sun exposure

  • Comfortable Walking Shoes – Ancient roads = uneven ground

  • Water Bottle – No fountains inside the ruins

  • Museum Card – Entry covered

  • Optional: Cooling towel / portable fan during hot days

If you’re traveling by bus or tour coach across Turkey, your speed isn’t just about distance — it’s about road type, especially whether you're on an otoyol (highway) or slower regional roads.

If you're prioritizing time and road quality for buses — not sightseeing — the routes with the most continuous otoyol (100 km/h) will be fastest, even if they are longer in kilometers.

🚀 Top 3 Fastest Routes for Buses:

  1. Kadıköy → Sapanca (127 km)
    ✅ Full highway. Perfectly smooth.
    🕐 Fastest route overall.

  2. Kadıköy → Pamukkale via İzmir (713 km)
    ✅ O-5 highway from Istanbul all the way to Aydın.
    🕐 Longer in distance but high-speed road nearly entire way.

  3. Kadıköy → Uludağ (167 km)
    ✅ Highway to Bursa.
    🕐 Slows down on mountain climb to Uludağ, but still a fast journey.

🐢 Slower Routes for Buses

Even if they’re shorter in distance, the following routes use regular roads (lower speed limits, more curves, small towns), so buses must drive slower:

  • Cappadocia: 712 km — mostly 80–90 km/h roads.

  • Pamukkale via Salda: 768 km — more scenic, less efficient.

  • Ölüdeniz: 813 km — final 200+ km are narrow, hilly coastal roads.

✍️ Conclusion (Bus Travel Focus)

  • Choose routes with continuous otoyol (Istanbul–İzmir–Aydın corridor is excellent).

  • Don’t be fooled by shorter distances — buses make up time on highways, not side roads.

  • Expect delays on routes with mountains, villages, or regional roads (especially around Ölüdeniz, Salda, Uludağ, and Cappadocia).
