How to Withdraw Turkish Lira (TL) Without Extra Fees

Hello everyone 👋

If you're staying in Turkey with an international bank card (like Revolut, Wise, or any foreign debit/credit card), here’s some important info about ATMs that may help you save money during your stay.

✅ ATMs Reported to Allow Commission-Free TL Withdrawals:

These banks generally do not charge extra fees for foreign card withdrawals (as of recent reports):

  • Halkbank

  • Vakıfbank

  • Ziraat Bankası

  • PTT (Post Office ATMs)

  • HSBC Turkey

  • Kuveyt Türk

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • 💳 Your card provider may still apply its own limits or fees.

    • Example: Revolut offers £200/month free ATM withdrawals, then charges 2% or min £1.

    • Wise also has a free limit after which fees apply.

  • 🔄 Always choose “Withdraw without conversion” or “TL only” at the ATM.
    This avoids bad exchange rates and hidden conversion charges.

💬 Final Tip:

If an ATM prompts you to accept a conversion to your home currency, decline it. Let your bank handle the conversion — they usually offer much better rates!
